Frequently Asked Questions
How does acupuncture work?
The classical chinese explanation is that there are channels of energy throughout the body and along it's surface.  These energy channels are called meridicans and carry the body's qi or energy.  When the meridians become obstructed this creates an imbalance, stagnating the smooth flow of energy.  Inserting fine hair thin needles into points along it's pathway can access the meridians.  The acupuncture needles aid in re-establishing a smooth flow of energy along teh meridians.  Once the energy flows smoothly the body is better able to function in harmony with it's surroundings.
What are the needles like?  Do they hurt?
The acupuncture needles are as thin as a hair on the head.  They are usually made from stainless steal and are solid, unlike hypodermic needles.  Each needle is sterilized and used only once, to insure safe and clean treatments.  All people experience acupuncture differently.  Most patients experience  a small pricking sensation upon insertion to no sensation at all.

What Medical conditions can it treat?
